Today I installed Nexus (http://nexus.sonatype.org/) as Maven repository and it just works beautifully. The UI is a lot more intuitive and user friendly. I prefer it a lot to Artifactory (http://www.jfrog.org/products.php) where the UI, the functionalities and the footprint seem a lot worse than Nexus. I was particularly happy with the ease of setup especially when it comes to setting up a new repository. The Maven book (Maven The Definitive Guide, O'Reilly) definitely helped me out with Nexus having a chapter dedicated entirely to it. The chapter contains useful tips such as how to set up Nexus as a Linux or Windows service and how to best configure your settings.xml file.
